CBP utilizes a unique mixture of exercises, chiropractic adjustments, and spinal traction intended to affect a measurable change in a person's posture and radiographic measurements. These changes are thought to improve the biomechanics of the spine; thus reducing symptoms, improving function, and preventing degeneration. == History == CBP is a modern interpretation of the traditional structural chiropractic approach. The structural approach has roots in the segmental subluxation advocated by BJ Palmer, subsequent upper cervical practitioners, and the full spine approach of Clarence Gonstead. Burl Pettibon expanded the structural paradigm in the 1960s to include groups of vertebra and whole sections of the spine, with an emphasis on the sagittal and coronal curvatures. Dr. Don Harrison adopted the Pettibon viewpoint while working for Dr. Pettibon in the late 1970s, but was unsatisfied with the scientific basis of the theory. This dissatisfaction prompted him to pursue further education, leading to a MSE in Mechanical Engineering in 1997 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and a PhD in Applied Mathematics in 1998 from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Dr. Don Harrison and his son Dr. Deed Harrison pursued research in spinal modeling as well as clinical research focused on examining the effectiveness of extension traction. Together they taught the technique through a seminar series as well as a four part textbook series. Dr. Don Harrison passed away in 2011 with over 80 peer-reviewed publications to his name.〔 Since 2011 Dr. Deed Harrison has led CBP non-profit, produced spinal rehabilitation research, and taught seminars at a dedicated teaching facility in Idaho.
